Literature Text

It's just this thing I don't talk about and it's not like I can't live without you
Because I can, but
Saying I can stand and walk two steps without singing your name in my mind
Would be a lie,
And when you're gone I dance with you,
Fingers on paper leaving telltale prints and my feet leave the floor like they should.
So you think I can't feel, not like that, not something like love
But I disagree:
I love you every day, for five minutes at least before I remember to exhale;
I shout your name quietly because it burns my throat;
I've mapped the train of your thoughts when you smile and I've seen you
Trailing my destruction in your wake,
Your movements so graceful in your spike heels that get caught
In heaven's cloths or whatever it is you're stepping on.
Don't expect to hear me say this, you probably never will but I
Speak it every day with my mouth shut tight,
And I like to pretend that you know
Sometimes because
Every day, when you're somewhere else, for five minutes
I tell you everything.
Written (just now) for the :iconlive-love-write: prompt for this week: "I love you/it/them (this much/so much/forever/etc)." I hope this is okay.
Regina Spektor's "Summer in the City" is my new favorite song, btw. :)
